In Michigan where I live, we joke that summer is also called construction (or orange barrel) season. Because of our long, cold winters, all of our road construction is done during the short summer months, so we get used to seeing traffic cones and workers holding stop signs to direct traffic. Whether you are in the middle of construction season or just have a little one who loves all things construction, check out these free construction color by sight word editable coloring pages.
Coloring by sight word is a great way to practice reading and identifying sight words, while still having fun and coloring in a mystery picture. In all of my color by sight word coloring pages, I try to stick to the basic colors found in your standard crayon box. Don't get me wrong, I love my 64 count crayon box, but you don't need that for these pages.
The best part about these color by sight word pages (besides the fact that they are free) is that they are editable. That means you can add any words you want. But don't worry, I've done the hard work for you. All you have to do is type the words you want to use into the top of each page (where the six crayons are shown) and those words will automatically fill into the picture before your eyes. Awesome, right?
Once you've added the words you want to use to the five construction themed pictures, just print them out, grab the matching crayons and start coloring! I always have my kiddos color the crayons at the top as a reference and then find the words in the picture below and match the color.
