We did some new sensory activities this week. K, my 2 year old, loves sensory bin activities and playing with things like playdough. So I made a fresh batch of orange playdough. I found a recipe that uses Kool-Aid which I hadn't tried before. The first batch was tropical punch and smelled yummy but something went wrong and it wasn't the right consistency.
I also made "Moon Rocks" after finding the inspiration on Kim's blog at Life Over C's. She has a lot of great sensory ideas. This was super easy - black beans, some glue & water and glitter. Once it dried we broke the clumps apart. I threw in some space foam shapes that I had on hand. Boom, done. Happy kid!
I've also been busy with some adult crafts. I had a baby subway art order from my cousin and I also had to make one for my sister for her wedding shower.
In addition, I promised my sister to make her a wifey shirt for her upcoming wedding. She saw it online and I was shocked that it was over $50. I told her my handy dandy Silhouette machine could make it for cheaper. And I did. I like how it came out with that font and using a sponge to make the ink look distressed. I'm thinking up other words I might want on a shirt of my own.
The Lauren Graham book has been on my list for over a year. I loved Gilmore Girls so I'm all about supporting Lauren Graham. I've heard it is written similarly to Gilmore Girls and they are trying to turn it into a show. I'm excited I quickly found it on a shelf after Storytime this week.
Almost finished with another kindergarten product. This is mini books for each numbers 1-30. Each book is 8 pages long. Here are a few sample pages.
Did you get your free U2 album on iTunes this week? We saw U2 a few years ago in Minneapolis and they were awesome. I don't know that I own any of their cds but I'm all about free. I'm about to go listen right now while I make dinner.
Have a great weekend!
