Some days you just need an easy activity. Something that doesn't take much time or money or energy to put together because let's face it, some days we don't have any of those things! This was one of those activities for us. The weather had kept us inside for several days and I wanted to do something academic with the girls that would be quick for me to prep and wouldn't involve me going to the store or waiting 2 days for Amazon to deliver it to me. I give you....the low prep alphabet hunt.
I grabbed a roll of painters tape (plain washi tape would work too) and stuck it on the wall in our main hallway. I went through and wrote the letters of the alphabet (uppercase) on the tape with sharpie. Then I grabbed a pack of sticky notes that I didn't mind "wasting" and wrote one letter on each sticky note.
While the girls were distracted by the tv, I hid the letters all around the first floor of our house.
Then I told them that they needed to find the letters, bring them back to the hallway and stick them on the match. They LOVED it!! The little one just liked finding them but big sister actually did the matching.
The girls loved it so much, they wanted to make their own version. K got the rest of the sticky notes and started copying the letters from the ones I made. Then she started hiding them around the house for us to find. So sweet!
