We started with just putting the uppercase letters in order. We kept singing the ABC song so she could remember what letter came next. She has some confusion around LMNOP still, so I slowly said the letters over and over. There was also some confusion at the end of the song...as in she thought "double" and "u" were letters - not W. Once we got that squared away and she had all of the letters lined up, I gave her the lowercase letters one at a time in random order. I thought she would lose stamina but she actually did this quickly. I was shocked at how well she did with matching the letters and then telling me what starts with that letter. She had some confusion with b, d, p and q, which doesn't surprise me. I showed her each letter and what was different about it and then we traced it with our fingers.
I plan to use these cards on repeat this summer. We can use them for so many different things:
-sequencing the alphabet (lowercase)
-sequencing the alphabet (uppercase)
-matching upper and lowercase
-what letter comes next
-what letter is missing
-what letter comes before
-what letter comes after
-memory with upper and lowercase
