Last year, I shared some ideas for making a sensory bin for older kids. It doesn't have to just be for toddlers and preschoolers. Throw in some math or word work practice and it works for older kids too. One of the ideas I shared was a space themed sensory bin and today I have the space themed addition and subtraction cards as a freebie for you.
If you want to make a sensory bin for this, I used black beans with a little glue and glitter to make moon rocks. Then, I added planet cardboard cutouts and glow in the dark stars.
Next up, I added the number planets and then some of the corresponding cards that have the addition and subtraction problems on them. Students will dig through the sensory bin and look for problems that match the answer planet cards. Then they sort the addition and subtraction problem by the answer card.
You could easily use these cards as math fact practice without a sensory bin. Just laminate and cut apart and students can play with them on the table or floor. They would make a perfect math center.
