It is back to school season around here! How about some FREE counting practice using these school bus ten frames matching activities? These cards can be used in multiple ways and are perfect for creating differentiated counting practice. Check out the three ways to use these cards so students can practice counting (and subitizing) up to 10.
Using School Bus Ten Frames Matching Activity - Option 1
The first way to use these cards is to simply cut them apart and match the number cards to the school bus with the ten frames on it. Students just learning to count and identify numbers can count each of the dots and find the corresponding number.
Students who are a little more counting proficient can use these cards to work on subitizing, a fancy word for just looking at the picture and recognizing how many it is without needing to count. The numbers 0-10 are included in this free set.
Using School Bus Ten Frames Matching Activity - Option 2
The second way to use these ten frame matching cards is with the recording sheet that is included. The first sheet just has the numbers 0-10. Students will use the bus cards only for this activity. They will shuffle the cards and put them face down.
Then students will take one card at a time, identify the number show in the ten frame and color it on their recording sheet. Continue this until all numbers have been colored.
Using School Bus Ten Frames Matching Activity - Option 3
The third option is similar to option two with the recording sheet. The only difference is the second recording sheet is a little more challenging because it includes 2 of each number. So students can use the stack of bus cards twice or you can mix together more than one set of cards. This is a great way to differentiate for students who need more help and students who seem to get it and need more of a challenge.
